Giovanni Guidetti is an Italian volleyball coach whose long tenure with VakıfBank has become one of the defining coach-club relationships in modern women’s volleyball. He remains VakıfBank’s head coach in the 2026–27 cycle and also leads Canada’s senior women’s national team, a position he took in 2025. Volleyball Canada’s 2026 program continues to list Guidetti as head coach as Canada builds toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Guidetti has coached VakıfBank since 2008, overseeing repeated Turkish league, CEV Champions League and FIVB Club World Championship titles while working through several generations of elite players. His national-team résumé is equally broad. He has coached Germany, the Netherlands, Türkiye and Serbia before Canada, with European Championship medals and Olympic appearances across those assignments. The Canada job differs from several of his previous roles because it began with a program seeking to convert recent ranking progress into a return to the Olympic stage; in 2026 Canada secured its LA28 place. Guidetti’s profile is therefore defined by a contrast: extraordinary stability at one club alongside frequent national-team changes. That combination has allowed him to maintain a long-term technical base at VakıfBank while repeatedly adapting his international coaching to different player pools and federation structures.
