Roberto Piazza is an Italian volleyball coach who entered the 2026–27 season with two high-level responsibilities: head coach of PGE Projekt Warszawa in Poland and head coach of Iran’s men’s national team. Projekt signed him to a four-year contract in 2026 after his seven-season run with Allianz Milano, while Iran had appointed him in 2025. The combination gives Piazza a demanding club-and-country schedule and returns him to Poland, where he previously coached Jastrzębski Węgiel and PGE Skra Bełchatów.
Piazza’s career developed through the Italian club system, including years as an assistant with leading teams before he became a long-term head coach. His later appointments took him to Russia, Greece, Poland and Italy, and he also led the Netherlands men’s national team through the Tokyo Olympic cycle and EuroVolley campaigns. With Milano he helped turn a relatively young top-flight project into a regular European participant and trophy winner, establishing a longer institutional relationship than is common at elite level. His 2026 move to Warsaw therefore represents a change of club rather than a reset of his coaching identity. Piazza remains a coach shaped by European club volleyball but with enough national-team experience to manage the different rhythm, roster constraints and short preparation windows of international competition.
