Hwaseong IBK Altos is the women’s professional volleyball team backed by Industrial Bank of Korea. Created in the early 2010s, the club became competitive unusually quickly and won major domestic honors during its first years in the V-League. That rapid rise established IBK as more than an expansion participant and gave the team a recognizable place alongside Korea’s older corporate programs. The club is based in Hwaseong, south of Seoul, and has built its identity around the Altos brand while maintaining the strong company-team structure typical of Korean professional volleyball.
A new phase began with Japanese coach Masayoshi Manabe taking charge for the 2026–27 season. Manabe’s appointment brought one of Asia’s most experienced national-team coaches into the V-League and signaled a willingness to refresh the program through a different tactical perspective. The club’s longer history, however, remains defined by its ability to become a title contender soon after formation and to sustain a professional fan base in Hwaseong. IBK Altos therefore sits in an interesting middle ground: younger than the traditional company teams that predate the V-League, but old enough to have its own championship history, supporter culture and recognizable playing identity. Its early championships remain an important reference because they showed how quickly a newly created company team could become structurally competitive.
