Lorenzo Bernardi is a retired Italian volleyball player whose complete skill set made him one of the central figures of Italy’s celebrated 1990s generation. He helped Italy win World Championship titles in 1990 and 1994 and an Olympic silver medal at Atlanta 1996.
Bernardi began his senior career as a setter before becoming an elite hitter and passer, an unusual transition that reflected his technical range. The FIVB later named him jointly as a Player of the Century, recognition of a career that also produced major club titles in Italy and Europe.
