Maxim Mikhaylov is a Russian opposite whose efficiency on high balls and ability to score in every phase made him one of the most successful attackers of his era. He won Olympic gold at London 2012 after taking bronze at Beijing 2008 and later added a silver medal at Tokyo 2020.
At club level, Mikhaylov has been closely identified with Zenit Kazan since 2010, collecting repeated Russian, European and world titles. His longevity has allowed him to remain an important scorer well beyond the national-team peak that established his international reputation.
