BYU Men’s Volleyball is the men’s collegiate program of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. The Cougars compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and play home matches at Smith Fieldhouse, one of the recognizable venues in the college game. Shawn Olmstead has led the men’s program since 2015, continuing a BYU coaching lineage that has kept the Cougars nationally relevant across multiple generations of players.
BYU has won three NCAA national championships, in 1999, 2001 and 2004, and has remained a regular factor in the national postseason since that championship era. Under Olmstead, the Cougars returned to the NCAA championship match in 2016, 2017 and 2021 while also collecting MPSF regular-season and tournament titles. The combination of established history, a strong home environment and a program accustomed to high-level West Coast competition gives BYU a durable place in the U.S. men’s volleyball landscape.
