2028 Men's Tournament Preview
The Los Angeles 2028 men’s Olympic volleyball tournament will feature 12 national teams at Honda Center in Anaheim. As of 29 October 2026, six teams have secured quota places: host United States plus continental qualifiers Brazil, Cuba, Japan, Tunisia and Poland.
Six places remain. Three will go to the highest-finishing eligible teams at the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup in Poland, and the last three will be assigned through the FIVB World Ranking at the close of the VNL 2028 preliminary phase.
Why This Upcoming Edition Matters
The qualification system leaves a clear separation between teams already safe and those whose Olympic campaign will run through 2027 or deep into the 2028 VNL. The World Cup is the next major opportunity, followed by the final ranking route.
The qualified-team table is not a ranking or seed list. Olympic pools and the complete competition format will be added after they are officially drawn and published.
Confirmed Format, Qualification & Host Information
LA28 has 12 men’s volleyball quota places: one for host United States, five from the 2026 continental qualification events, three from the 2027 World Cup for teams not already qualified, and three from the FIVB World Ranking after the VNL 2028 preliminary phase.
Honda Center will host indoor volleyball. The current session schedule places the men’s preliminary phase from 15–22 July, quarterfinals on 24 July, semifinals on 26 July, bronze on 28 July and the gold-medal match on 29 July 2028.
