Philippe Blain is a French volleyball coach and former international outside hitter who leads the Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers in South Korea’s men’s V-League. He remained the club’s head coach in the 2026–27 season after guiding Hyundai Capital through a championship cycle that included the 2024–25 V-League title and continued rivalry with Korean Air. His current role extends a career that has moved between European national teams, Japan’s national program and professional club volleyball in Asia.
Blain was already a prominent figure in French volleyball before coaching. As a player he represented France for many years, then moved into management and became head coach of the French men’s national team from 2001 to 2012. He later joined Poland’s national-team staff as an assistant under Stéphane Antiga, including the 2014 World Championship-winning campaign. His longest recent international chapter came in Japan, first as an assistant and then as head coach of the men’s national team through the Paris 2024 cycle. That work helped connect Blain with Asian volleyball before his move to Hyundai Capital. His career therefore combines three different perspectives: elite former player, long-term European national-team coach and an experienced international coach now operating inside Korea’s club system. The role extends his long career across both club and national-team volleyball.
