At senior level, Ilaria Spirito is identified primarily as a libero, a role developed through Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 and national-team competition. Spirito has accumulated extensive Serie A experience and continues with Chieri for 2026–27, where she also carries captaincy responsibility. Her long club career has been built around serve receive, defense and the organizational work that a libero performs behind the block.
Back-row control defines Ilaria Spirito’s position. A libero must absorb difficult serves, read hitters behind the block and deliver defensive touches that let the setter rebuild the offense, so precision and anticipation matter more than conventional scoring. Listed at 174 cm, that physical profile is relevant context for the role, but it does not replace timing, reading and technical execution. The same fundamentals travel from club to country, even when Ilaria Spirito is asked to adjust to a different system or rotation pattern.
She was part of Italy’s Olympic gold-medal group in 2024 and remained in the senior national-team picture through 2026. EuroVolley ended with silver, giving Spirito another major international medal while she continued to balance national-team duty with a leadership role at club level. Ilaria Spirito now has an established senior résumé, with future club and national-team seasons adding to rather than redefining that foundation.
