Karch Kiraly is a retired American outside hitter who remains unique as an Olympic champion in both indoor and beach volleyball. He won indoor gold with the United States at Los Angeles 1984 and Seoul 1988 before adding beach-volleyball gold at Atlanta 1996.
Kiraly’s indoor game combined elite ball control, serving, defense and attacking at a time when complete six-rotation players carried enormous tactical responsibility. His success across two disciplines made him one of the most influential figures in the history of American volleyball.
