Lang Ping is a retired Chinese outside hitter and one of the most influential figures in volleyball history as both a player and coach. Known as the “Iron Hammer,” she helped China win the 1981 World Cup, 1982 World Championship and Olympic gold at Los Angeles 1984.
After retiring from elite playing, Lang built an equally important coaching career, including Olympic medals with both the United States and China. Her player profile remains rooted in the powerful outside-hitting role that helped establish China as a global women’s volleyball power in the early 1980s.
