Mireya Luis is a retired Cuban outside hitter whose extraordinary jumping ability made her one of the most explosive scorers in women’s volleyball history. She led Cuba through its dominant 1990s run and won three consecutive Olympic gold medals at Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000.
Luis also won World Championship titles in 1994 and 1998 and became a symbol of Cuba’s fast, physical style despite standing only 176 cm. Her power, leadership and high contact point helped make her one of the most influential attackers of her generation.
