Jeonnam-Gwangju SOOP SOOPers entered the Korean women’s V-League for the 2026–27 season as a new club identity backed by technology and streaming company SOOP. The team serves the Jeonnam-Gwangju region and emerged from the league place previously associated with the Pepper Savings Bank women’s program, giving SOOP an immediate senior roster while creating a new brand, management structure and local positioning. Former Korea international and national-team coach Kim Se-jin was appointed to lead the first season, while libero Han Da-hye was identified as captain of the inaugural squad.
Because the SOOPers are a newly constituted identity, their history should not simply be presented as if every achievement of the predecessor belonged unchanged to the new club. The more accurate starting point is the 2026 transition: KOVO approval, a new regional name and a first season in Korea’s established professional league. That distinction matters in a competition where most opponents have decades of company-team lineage. Jeonnam-Gwangju SOOP SOOPers begin with the advantage of experienced professional players but still have to build their own supporter culture, competitive record and visual identity. Their early profile is therefore defined by transition and local reintroduction rather than inherited trophies. That new identity also gives the Jeonnam-Gwangju region a chance to define its own supporter traditions around a club presented explicitly as a regional team.
