The 2028 Women’s Volleyball Nations League is scheduled for 8 May–11 June 2028. Beyond the VNL title race, the preliminary phase has direct Olympic importance: the World Ranking at its close will allocate the final three LA28 women’s volleyball quota places to the highest-ranked teams not already qualified.
The complete 2028 VNL field, hosts, pools and competition format have not yet been officially announced. FIVB described the 19-team expansion as applying to 2027 only, so this page does not assume that field size carries into 2028.
Why This Upcoming Edition Matters
The Olympic ranking cutoff makes the 2028 preliminary phase unusually important even before the VNL Finals. For teams that miss qualification through the 2026 continental championships and 2027 World Cup, every ranking point can affect the last route to Los Angeles.
The right current approach is therefore to lock in the dates and Olympic qualification role while leaving the field and host pools open until FIVB publishes the 2028 competition regulations.

FIVB’s calendar places the 2028 women’s VNL on 8 May–11 June. The final three LA28 quota places will be assigned from the FIVB World Ranking taken at the close of the VNL 2028 preliminary phase, excluding teams already qualified.
