Inside LOVB Minnesota

LOVB Minnesota brings League One Volleyball into the Twin Cities for the 2026–27 season, expanding the league into a region with a long record of college, high-school and club volleyball participation. The team is scheduled to play at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis, placing professional matches in a venue already closely associated with the sport. Spanish coach César Hernández González was selected to lead the expansion side after work with national teams and major European clubs. His experience in Poland, France and elite international programs gives Minnesota an established technical leader even though the professional franchise itself is new.

The club enters LOVB at a point when the league is moving from its original six-team footprint to a broader national structure. That makes Minnesota part of the second wave of LOVB Pro: a team expected to build a local identity while immediately competing against clubs that already have professional seasons behind them. The Twin Cities offer a logical setting for that effort because the area combines a large youth-volleyball community with strong college support and a history of producing high-level players. LOVB Minnesota’s early profile is therefore less about inherited trophies than about market fit, coaching credibility and the opportunity to turn an established volleyball culture into a stable professional following.
