DC Flight is Washington, D.C.’s first professional volleyball franchise and one of Major League Volleyball’s 2027 expansion teams. The club unveiled its full Flight identity in September 2026, using an aviation-and-motion theme that draws on the capital region’s links to air and space history. All 13 inaugural home matches are scheduled for The Anthem at The Wharf, an unconventional concert venue being adapted as a volleyball home court. That choice places the team directly in the District rather than in a suburban arena and gives the franchise a distinctive match-day setting from its first season.
Deitre Collins-Parker was appointed the first head coach, giving DC Flight an experienced leader with a long background in elite U.S. volleyball. The club is owned through All United Sports and Entertainment and enters a market that already supports major professional women’s teams but has not previously had a permanent top-level volleyball franchise. Flight’s early profile is therefore built around firsts: first D.C. pro volleyball team, first season in 2027 and first attempt to make The Anthem a regular sports venue. Its history should begin with that expansion project rather than being blended with earlier regional teams from other leagues. The unusual home venue may become part of the club’s identity if Flight can turn a music hall into a recognizable volleyball atmosphere.
