EDITION ANALYSIS

How the 2026 Edition Was Decided

Egypt’s championship was defined by consistency. The team moved through pool play and the knockout rounds without dropping a set, then controlled the final against a Kenyan side playing in front of its home crowd.

The result changed the international pathway for the Egyptian women. Winning Africa’s title gave them the continent’s direct Los Angeles 2028 Olympic place, while the medalists also secured World Cup qualification.

COMPETITION GUIDE

Format, Field & Host

Fifteen national teams were split into four preliminary pools in Nairobi. Every team progressed into the knockout phase, which moved from the round of 16 through quarterfinals, semifinals and medal matches, with classification matches determining the rest of the final order.

The 2026 edition was played at venues in Nairobi from 25 August to 4 September and doubled as Africa’s qualifier for Los Angeles 2028 and the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Cup.
